DIY "Shabby Chic" Jewelry Display

First of all, thanks to Julia for posting the pin she found of this cute picture frame jewelry display...I had been wanting to try out a new way of organizing my jewelry, and when I saw this on her blog I thought it would be perfect! Here was the original "pinspiration":

I had some extra free time today, so I decided to spend my afternoon crafting up this cute display. The step-by-step instructions are here, and they do a great job of explaining everything!

This is all you need to do this project:
A picture frame (I used 8x11), picture hanging wire, off-white acrylic paint, a sponge brush, and nails/tacks/staples to attatch the wire to the frame. The original blogger said they used the sponge brush because it wiped away some of the paint, which you might think would be a bad thing...however, this project is supposed to result in an antiqued kind of look, which the sponge brush pulled off quite nicely!

I started off by painting the frame, and then let it dry for a bit:
Once it was good and dried, I attatched the wire to the back of the frame using tacks (the link I posted explains all this in much more detail, if you're interested in doing this project):

Also, you'll notice I didn't paint the back, mostly since I'm planning on no one ever seeing it, but obviously you could if you wanted to! I'm actually thinking about hanging it on the wall which is why I decided it wasn't important. Anyways, here's the finished product:

I really don't have anywhere to put it in my room here, so I'm thinking about bringing it home and hanging it up there! Also I decided to make my frame horizontal, because I'm thinking about making a frame with hooks at the top to hang my necklaces which will be vertical, and I thought the two frames would go together better this way! Overall this project was easy and inexpensive, and I would definitely recommend it!

How do you organize your jewelry? Would you try this DIY project?
